What We Do
National Energy Audits is focused on performing energy audits and implementing simple, inexpensive solutions that drastically reduce energy bills for homeowners.
We don't replace windows and doors and we don't install siding and roofing, because contrary to common belief, these factors have very little to do with the actual energy efficiency of your home.
We also don't implement solar systems or geothermal. We focus on performing energy audits and implementing simple solutions that all have a payback period of 1 to 3 years... Guaranteed.
Our audits include various diagnostic tools that are used to determine exactly how inefficient your home is and how much money you're losing each month because of those inefficiencies.
Whether you live in a 1,000 square foot starter home or 10,000 square foot mansion, our audits are a flat fee of $250 and take an average of 4 hours to complete.
Each National Energy Audit includes the following:

Step 1: Blower Door Test
This is a Depressurization Test of the air inside your home. It depressurizes the inside air and allows you to feel exactly where your house is losing energy. As
you walk through your home with the energy consultant you'll be able to feel the air coming through the leaky window and door moldings, leaky wall outlets, recessed lights and under-insulated walls.
"Air leakage is the major cause for energy waste in homes across the United States." - McKinsey Global Institute

Step 2: Thermal Imaging Analysis
With an infrared camera we can literally see through the walls inside your home. This allows us to determine your home's insulation
levels and the air flow throughout the home so you can see with your own eyes where your home is losing energy.

Step 3: Duct Leakage Test
Ducts that weren't installed properly or may have been damaged over the years are a major cause of energy loss for homeowners throughout the United States. Our energy consultants use state of the art equipment to pressure test the ducts in your house and determine exactly how much energy and money your losing due to the leaky ductwork.
"The average home wastes 25% of its energy consumption through leaky ducts." - BuildingScience.com
Step 4: Efficiency and Safety Test
Each one of our energy consultants runs tests on all of your home's combustion units. This allows us to see if your boiler or burner is running at its optimum efficiency and not kicking on and off randomly without reason. This also allows us to determine if your boiler or burner is releasing dangerous levels of carbon monoxide into your home.
Step 5: Manual Insulation Inspection
A manual inspection of all the insulation throughout the entire home is performed. That means our energy consultant will get into all those tight attic spaces and crawl spaces to determine where you may be missing insulation, where the insulation may have deteriorated or settled over the years.
"65% of the homes throughout the United States are under-insulated or missing insulation." - Harvard University School of Health
Step 6: Moisture Evaluation Test
Moisture build up is common problem with homes throughout the United States. The moisture not only causes problems with energy consumption, but it can also cause health and safety problems for homeowners. Our energy consultant uses the infrared camera to test every crevice throughout the home to determine if there are any moisture or mold problems due to the inefficient ventilation or improper insulation installation.
